Celebrate July Fourth this year with Irving’s Sparks & Stripes.
What: The city’s annual parade will feature more than 60 patriotic floats.
When: 9 a.m. July 4
Where: The parade will begin at the corner of Rock Island and Sowers roads, by Irving’s Veterans Memorial Park, and wind through downtown. Check here for the parade route.
What: Enjoy watermelon and live music by bass guitarist and vocalist Josh Gilbert following the parade.
When: 10 to 11 a.m. July 4
Where: Heritage Park, 217 S. Main St. Details: Admission is free.
What: Irving will host live music with food trucks, vendors and a kids’ area featuring inflatable attractions. The grand finale will be a 20-minute fireworks and water show over Lake Carolyn.
Details: Admission is free. Free parking is available at Toyota Music Factory with a shuttle service, or $10 parking will be available at nearby parking garages. Only cash is accepted.
Blankets or chairs are encouraged, but coolers and alcohol are prohibited.

The annual event features a parade that starts on Monday at 9 am in the Heritage District, followed by life music and fireworks at Levy Event Plaza at 6 pm.
Josh Gilbert will also perform at Heritage Park at 10 am following the parade.
The City of Irving will present a weekend-long celebration for Independence Day.
The city’s Parks and Recreation Department kicks off the festivities on July 3 with the traditional parade in downtown Irving followed by live music and a fireworks show on Sunday, July 4 at Levy Event Plaza.

Parade enthusiasts can expect to see a caravan of creative patriotic floats, cars and people on foot, as well as enjoy parade candy and goodies as the parade passes. The parade route starts at Irving Blvd. and Sowers Rd., and will travel westbound on Irving Blvd., around Millennium Park fountain, eastbound on Second St., northbound on Delaware St. onto Irving Blvd. westbound and will head north on Sowers Road to end the parade.
The patriotic festivities will continue on July 4 with live music, a variety of food trucks, beer garden, kids’ fun area, and a fireworks show. Attendees will enjoy performances by Alex Aguilar and Downtown Fever, with fireworks scheduled for 9:30 p.m. The fireworks show will be coordinated to music on 98.7 KLUV.
